
The Bitterroot Valley is located in South Western Montana.
The Valley runs
North/South between Missoula on the North and Sula on the South. It is approximately 70
Miles long and 23 miles wide. The Valley is bordered by the Bitterroot Mountains on the
West side and the Sapphire Mountains on the East side. The terrain varies from level farm
land, to wooded river bottom areas, to rolling hills, to timbered mountain areas.
Most
areas offer incredible mountain and/or valley views.
Wildlife in the Bitterroot Valley is incredible. There are many species including Elk,
Moose, Mountain Goat, Big Horn Sheep, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Black Bear, Grizzly
Bear, Mountain Lion, Wolf, Coyote, Fox, Badger, Bald Eagle, Waterfowl, as well as
numerous small game and upland birds. The Valley offers varied four season outdoor
recreation including fishing, hunting, hiking, back packing, horse riding, skiing,
snowmobiling, ATV riding, photography and camping.
The City/Towns in the Bitterroot Valley, from North to South, are Missoula, Lolo,
Florence, Stevensville, Victor, Pinesdale, Woodside, Corvallis, Hamilton, Darby, Conner,
and Sula. There are two large lakes in the valley, Como Lake and Painted Rocks Lake.
Both offering boating and summer fun. The Valley is home to the Bitterroot River and
numerous creeks as well as alpine lakes...most are remote.

Most City/Towns offer basic shopping areas with Missoula and Hamilton providing
the larger stores and more variety. There are movie theaters, play houses, museums, gift,
art and craft shops, and excellent dining in the valley. Also the Valley is home to two
Wildlife Refuges and numerous viewing areas.
The Bitterroot Valley has some of the best climate in Montana. The population of the
